Windscreen Repair Tools with 100% protection-here soon!
The very second windscreen repair resin has contact with natural UV it begins to thicken and change the viscosity of the resin prior to it even entering the damage. This would mean using a none UV resistant syringe as commonly used in the UK and European markets would expose the resin to natural UV.
The standard practice during the repair to prevent premature curing whilst the windscreen repair resin is running through the damage is a cloth or rag. Does a cloth stop natural UV 100% ? Some windscreen repair kits use a UV shroud.
Some windscreen repair kit manufacturers have come up with a solution. They have introduced an injector head UV cover. However the cover being black and not transparent means you have to remove the UV cover (exposing the resin to natural UV) to see how the repair is progressing and to enable injector adjustments.
Its clever but lacks the knowledge of people who really understand the complexities of UV resistant windscreen repair. UV resin is very unforgiving if prematurely and accidentally exposed to natural UV. So when a windscreen repair has not worked out as good as expected (because it had started to thicken in the syringe with the natural UV exposure) the technicians bring out their secret weapon- a naked flame or lighter to try and thin the resin back down!
Here at GT SMART our new UV shields- soon to arrive, protect the windscreen repair resin 100% during the repair process whilst letting you make adjustments
